"Take out the wonder at your
face, live as if in ten seconds you will drop dead. See the future. See the
whole thing. It's amazing more than any factory-made or paying
fantasy."–Ray Bradbury. One of the wonders in which you would show
spectacular panoramic views of Kutch Gujarat's The Great Rann. It is amazing to
step through those crystals of salt that are boundless and witness both sunset
and the rising moon. Rann reminds you of your earthly incapacity. There is no
life on its grounds for miles, only white barren ground, and clear blue sky,
with its thick layer of salt, which is coated with dense sand. The Kutch of
Rann is the world's largest salt desert. Not only its natural splendor but also
the popular Rann Utsav is known. Gujarat can be a difficult proposition when
visiting Rann of Kutch because precise information that concerns visitors is
not accessible so easily on the Internet. During my planned visit to the Rann
of Kutch, my knowledge and preparation of the trip were inadequate.
HOW TO REACH GREAT RANN OF KUTCH
The cheapest way to get to The
Great Rann of Kutch is to take a train to Bhuj from Ahmedabad. Then, from Bhuj
to Hodka, a shared minibus, and then a shared car to Dhordo. It's approximately
86 km from Bhuj from Dhordo. The Gujarat government is building it as the
entrance to the Rann. On the edge of the desert is Dhordo. It's better to stay
there or near Hodka (17 km from Dhordo). You can opt for a taxi from Bhuj to
have a quick visit to the Great Rann of Kutch. For train reservations, visit IRCTC.Bhuj
is the closest airport to the Rann of Kutch, as well as a railway station.
PERMITS FOR RANN OF KUTCH
Due to its proximity to the
border with Pakistan, the Rann of Kutch Gujarat is a sensitive area. So you
need permission to visit Kutch of Rann. You can get the same thing on the
road from about 50 kilometers from Bhuj at Bhirandiyara village checkpoint. The
cost per person is 100 rupees and a car is 50 rupees. A photocopy of your ID is
to be sent and the originals displayed. The Gujarat DSP office in Bhuj near
Jubilee Ground enables you to obtain a permit, which will be closed on Sundays
as well as every second and fourth Saturday. You should prove your permission
to enter the salt desert at the BSF checkpoint.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Rann of
Kutch Gujarat suggested is between October and March almost everywhere on the
Internet, but I strongly recommend that you don't visit Rann before December,
as water doesn't get fully dry. The marshy land gets completely dried up in the
middle of December and you can walk down on the salty Rann. During April and
May, on a day trip from Bhuj, you can also visit the Salt Desert. But during
the day, it's very warm.
NB: –Check the internet for a
full moon night and prepare your itinerary accordingly. Test Moongiant's
current status.
